Truly Nice Music • 8
Cibo Matto, Baby Ford, Mr. Oizo, Jean Caffeine, SnPLO, Notsgnik, Barrett Avner, Eiko Ishibashi, Philus
All over the place this week, with a dash of minimal. Took a bit of a break to focus on rolling out the new Jump Source record – out April 29th. More Truly Nice Music in playlist form….
Philus - Kuvio 3
One of my favourite records to play – if it works, it’s a good party. Sounded amazing at a new warehouse spot in Montreal last weekend where I went b2b with Priori all night as Jump Source. Recap vid here.
Eiko Ishibashi - Nothing As
Been enjoying her scores for a minute, really liking this one. Another Jim O’Rourke collab for the books.
Cibo Matto - Sunday, Pt. 2
Ween-esque chiller.
Mr Oizo - Flat 55
Hadn’t heard this version of Flat Beat til recently; less hectic & raw. Cool to hear the source material of what he pushed further for the single version.
Notsgnik - Test
a kick and a bassline, nothing else needed.
Jean Caffeine - Jean’s Afterthought
ready to hear/see more stuff like this again.
BOBCBC
A Canadian Heritage Moment: Bobby De Keyzer skating the CBC spot in Toronto, with music by Barrett Avner. Highly recommend a full watch and/or listen.
SnPLO - Pin-3 D
More of the minimal deep stuff I listen to on repeat most days. Hard to get your hands on this one… stay alert for what’s next. That vocal though.
Baby Ford
Three tunes from Peter Adshead’s multiple aliases. Too many favourites from him, I’ll likely share more in the future. If you haven’t done a deep dive through his wildly vast catalogue, do so. I find a new hit every time I do.
Hi, good morning from Gibsons, BC. Thanks very much for this, I really enjoyed these selections especially SnPLO, I never heard them before.
🆒🙏
