Back to it – some truly nice music I’ve been listening to lately. A bit more dance music within this one… been binging some deeper stuff.
Oil & Water - Floating on Top
Seems like these fellas only managed to squeeze one record out back in ‘03, landing on Swift surrounded by a bunch of mostly placeholder prog/tribal house. Fear not, “Floating on Top” is as deep as they come.
U.e. - Drawing of Me
I’ve nearly over-listened to Hometown Girl since it came out in January. Been loving all the fragmented spectral manipulation that Ulla is known for, but the songs are what have stuck with me and blend with the familiar palette so well.
Vainqueur Live Set
Nearly an hour long live set recording from 2016, crowd noise included. s/o to hundop for passing this along.
Tommy Barlow - Flight 714
Could draw a load of obvious comparisons here, but I’ll abstain. First time I heard his voice I couldn’t believe it, the bro shook me. Excited for more.
Talk Talk - New Grass
The spring fake out here in Montreal had me back on a Laughing Stock tip for my daily studio walk. I’ve been focusing on the steady ride cymbal in this one, as it takes up most of the sonic space, and never stops until the end, acting as a drone usually would. It sounds superimposed at times, and slowly pitches down as the tune progresses.
Closer Musik - Maria
Sifting through Kompakt’s catalogue is a feat, but these 2 always come correct with the songlike ‘00s melodic hits.
Maus & Stolle - For Your Ears Only
loving M&S, didn’t know they had this slower stuff in them.
Noosa Heads - Basis (Patrick Lindsey Remix)
Remix so good it had to be on the A side. A hard hitting dubbed out builder, nearing trance, but stays rugged with the single chord drone.
MIKE - Belly 1
The chords in this sound like they could have been on a Dettinger or Closer Musik record, sounding too good with MIKE’s flow.
love this series
Cheers for including Maria! Just a wonderful song that holds great memories for me!
